Just got small motor, NS8B 3B2-1. Runs but shakes, lower steering bushing is GONE ! see pic.
Before i order parts, has any one had to replace these ? ( Thinking i should do lower and upper ).
Would appreciate any advise.

You probably do not need shaft bushings at all. Odds are you need the mounts. There are 3 uppers and 3 lowers. They are basically rubber blocks. Any dealer (even me) can supply parts. I would break it down to verify which parts you need. PS: something is odd, as I don't even see the steering shaft at all in that picture; Is the steering shaft way up in the air?

The rubber blocks are still in place. Steering shaft bushing, 3B2624170M, is missing, and i think i will also need
the O ring and thrust plate. There is nothing there, and a lot of slop. The shift linkage is in place and functional.
The motor runs. May also need the L and R mount brackets as one of the stainless bolts is broken off. Plan on dis-assembling before ordering. Just wondered if anyone has had to do this, and what i might be getting into.

Pretty straightforward job. You will need to use typical techniques for disassembling the brackets. The castings may or may not survive. You should confirm that the steering shaft is OK as well.

Better change all rotating related parts, bushings, o rings, these parts due wear if Swivel Bracket (SB) is not grease filled periodically as to maitan fresh grease. With use, abuse, time will develop a unwanted steering shaft, bushings, SB inside axial play.

If shift rod happens to pass through SB don't remember if you need to disconnect upper shift rod from pan area, pull lower leg to remove shift rod or a combination of both to free rod from SB. Did same complete job to my 18 HP horse moons back, but took advantage to do so when powerhead and lower unit were previously removed from body. Don't forget to fully grease SB with a grease gun throughout SB grease nipples.

Inspect steering shaft to be in good working order, that is not heavily corroded by time and water. If corrroded, clean well and sligh file for shaft to be smooth so new bushings will slide much better on shaft.

Happy Boating

Thanks, hoping not to pull power head, but we'll see.

Seems you'll need to remove lower shift rod from joint, pull lower leg out, unscrew screws that holds upper and lower swivel bracket in place and pull downwards. Upper shift rod could stay on pan. Take advantage to inspect water pump cond.
