I just bought a jon boat with an 8 hp. nissan

How do I know what year engine it is and what is the plug that say`s Wash for: I have a set of ears for washing the engine but the water flow really is very weak. My friend said it`s hard to get water flow with the ears it needs to be submerged??

Get the serial number and call Nissan at 972-323-6003 for the year. "Wash" is where the garden hose adapter goes in when you flush the engine. Ear muff flushers leak...Try using a plastic zip tie around the vee of the flusher to make it tight.

thanks I called nissan and they told me it was a 1990 model bought in May.

I read a post by you saying an 8hp could be turned into a 9.9 with the 9.9 jets. Will this work with my older model 8 hp? It`s a NS8B s/n 41147

or do you know of any other performance ideas

Main nozzle, main jet and slow jet...The block is different as well. Due to the age of the engine and probable wear on the block you may wind up with a motor that can't handle the extra fuel of the 9.8 carb mod without loading up.
