Nissan 70C Problems

Hello,

Took boat out after couple of months sitting. Motor started just like it always does but it seemed like it was running half-speed. Had neutral warm up switch all the way up and motor was running only 2500 (usually ~5000). Then when I let off of the switch to idle motor dies. Thought it was fuel filter, checked that out everything was fine. Anybody got any ideas?

It could be anything...You need to determine what system on the engine is causing the problem.

Re: Nissan 70C Problems

Well I got a chance to look at it yesterday and it appears I've got water in my fuel system. Opened up the air cover and water poured out of the bottom carb. I purchased the boat last year used and it still has the same tank that was in the boat at the time. Hope I haven't screwed anything up too much. I'm assuming I should start with that as it will not start right now. Take carbs out, clean, replace fuel tank, lines, etc. Spark plugs looked a little oily to me. Is that normal? I belive it is a 98-99 model. Thanks in advance guys.

I wouldn't rev to 5000RPM without a load. That would bad for the motor as well.

Yeah I don't think I've ever got it up that high, was just saying that under normal conditions it would def. get that high if I hit the switch all the way up. I'll keep you posted with my progress. It's been pretty slow going with working and moving into a new house though. Thanks for all the input and great site.
