I recently acquired an NS70A 70 hp Nissan outboard I am trying to get in working order to mount on my boat after my 50 hp evinrude bit the dirt. Motor fires right up and seems to run great with 130 lbs compression on both cylinders. No water stream though and telltail tube is not stopped up. I have found parts for the NS70A2 and havent been able to find them for the NS70A, which as I understand the A2 is newer version of my motor. Does anyone know if the impeller part number for the NS70A2 would work on my older NS70A motor? I was hoping to get clarification before spending money on a part that may not fit.

Great info, thanks Paul!
Another question for you Nissan whiz kids if I may. I believe the trim switch is bad on my boat for the same motor. Trim struggles to operate using the switch on the shift lever but trim works great when jumping it directly from the trim, so I believe my switch may be bad. I am having trouble tracking down the part number for this. The schematics are a little confusing to me with all the different type switches and I want to be sure I get the correct part to order. I know on some Nissan parts are now obsolete on the older NS70A models. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!!

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "Trim struggles to operate using the switch on the shift lever but trim works great when jumping it directly from the trim" The TT motor is fed high-current from solenoids, which are activated by low-power switches. You may have a switch at the cowl, as well as one at the RC box.

If you are saying that it works OK with the cowl switch, but the solenoid may not click in from the RC switch, then the RC wiring or switch may be bad.

OTOH, if you are saying that jumpering the solenoid works OK, but trying to activate the solenoid is a problem, then you may just need to clean the solenoid, or the solenoid -- or the low-power wiring and switch -- may be failing.
