Nissan 60hp bogs underload

I have a 1992 60hp 2-cyl. Nissan. While running at near full throttle (4000 rpm)the engine acted as if I had reduced power (bogged down). I would then only run @ approx. 1500 to 1800 rpm under load. In Neutral it would rev-up as if nothing were wrong. So we limped back to the dock. I have since replaced the hose and pressure bulb, replaced balance hose between carbs, dismantled and cleaned both carbs, checked all the hose clamps and gaskets on filter and carbs and checked and cleaned the plugs. At the house and while getting all the neighbors attention, with the water hose attached the engine runs great (No Load) I have ran the engine up and down over approx. 1hr with no problems while adjusting the carbs and trying to duplicate the problem with no success. Yesterday I put the boat in the water and it ran fine for about 3/4 of a mile and it bogged again with all the same results. I tried squeezing the pressure bulb while underway with a load on the engine and all it managed to do is flood the eng  ine. I do not believe that it is overheating and did not feel as if it ever got to hot. And the overtemp beeper/horn has never gone off. The tattle tail for the water pump has never stopped. The water pump has never been changed (probably needs it, just because) Tried all I know....If you got any suggestions it sure would help.

If pumping the bulb causes flooding,I would suspect a float-needle problem.

I have a 60HP(NS 60A) Nissan that does the same thing (bogging under full throttle). I have also replaced fuel lines, bulb, check fuel pump for diaphram for holes. I have cleaned carbs twice and concentrated on the main venturi that everyone says is probably stopped up, changed plugs.

Let me know if you have an answer.

Until you determine what system on the engine is causing the problem you will not be able to fix it.

Fuel system

Ignition system

Mechanical system

Troubleshoot the engine using a manual or take it into a dealer.

Most boat places here won't work on Nissan. It has fuel, good gas, fire in both plugs. Is it enough? I don't know. What else is there to eliminate?

Troubleshooting is both an art and science that will take years to develop a feel for. Give me your zip code and I will give you the name of a dealer near you.

My zip is 35179. Anderson Boats(expensive) , 278 Boat repair Big Al, Some guy at east point who does mostly fiberglass, and some small place in Gville. Guntersville Boat mart won't work on Nissan.
Thanks!

I found this post on into the archives. Could this be stator related?

have a 2000, 70 hp Tohatsu that recently started acting up. I have had it in the shop a few times and they cant seem to figure out the problem. the engine runs great below 3200 rpm, but if I try to throttle up beyond that, it starts to shudder and bog down. they cleaned the carbs, replaced the plugs twice, and the resistor caps, but still no good. the engine will be ok for 20 minutes or so when I first take the boat out, but then the problem returns and gets progressively worse the longer it runs. Any ideas? I will have to take the mechanic out on the boat because it doesnt run bad in the shop, only under load. thanks David

Have they tested the stator yet? Sounds like it may be related.

It would be possible....If your engine had a stator, which it does not. Try these guys for service. They are a hike from you, but the two that are closer are not as bright:)

Once they run through the electrical checks, they can run the fuel system and mechanical checks. Keep in mind though that this engine is old enough that the cost of repair will probably exceed the value of the engine. Industry average for shop labor is $95.00 per hour.
