Nissan 5hp no spark

I have a 5hp Nissan four stroke. It ran good yesterday. Went to start it tonight just got one five second burst from it and nothing. Pulled plug and no spark. I added oil to the crank case before I tried to start it, can think that would be a problem but who knows. The little red light on the front flickers when i pull it but not all the time. Any ideas on what is wrong with this thing.

If you get the led, you are making power for the CD. Check oil level, and of course plug and fuel. Is it in the 3-yr warranty? If so get to a dealer.

No this is an old motor say 1999 or so. I will check oil level. If the led is intermittent (not lighting on every pull) does that mean that the charging coil is weak/bad?

Only testing with an ohm meter per the Factory service manual will help you diagnose the ignition.

Well it was not an ignition problem. Squirted some gas in the carb and she fired up. Ran pretty good still cavitates a full throttle likely needs a new prop the one on there is pretty worn.
