My Nissan 5hp, ext. tank, starts, runs poorly with little water discharging at outlet. Lower unit appears to be blowing bubbles in the water. Intakes are not clogged. Textbook impeller? Have had it 4 years and not replaced it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i just thought about it, is your "bubbles" coming from two lil holes just where the lower unit meats the leg, one on each soe about an inch apart from each other.....if it is, this is exhaust coming through the holes, cause exhaust goes from the powerhead, down through the leg, and out the prop. this is normal, all three of mine do this...... but CHANGE THAT DARNED WATER PUMP

One impeller, new oil and a case of sun stroke later, looks like it's working fine. Thanks for the help. Turns out that the forward bolt holding the lower unit on was not quite as tight as it should have been, so maybe there was just more bubbling.

Interesting thing happened when I put it all back together, though. When I first started it up, I thought it was all for not. Very little water was spritzing out of the hole. Put it through the gears - no change. Let it idle again for a minute - nothing. Turned it off and waited about 10 minutes and gave it another pull. This time, water for days, smooth running, no problems...
