I was given a 13 foot boat with a 40D Nissan outboard over the winter. The
battery was charged and installed over the weekend, but when i turned the key it would not turn over. Power tilt and trim do not work either, I am thinking the neuteral saftey switch is bad. Can this be right?
Thank You

I don't think it is your neutral switch because the trim and tilt works wither the key is on or off.You need too get a 12 volt electrical tester and start at the battery and work your way too the starter and find out where you are loosing power at.

Before you do that....Check your fuse in the fuse holder on the engine.

Re: nissan 40d won't start

Great forum !
I had same problem with my Nissan 50 hp, and after looking in this forum, i bought som fuses and went home. The old one was blown so i changed it, turned the startkey, and the motor started.

As a matter of fact, there was a spare (original) fuse in the CD-unit. Now i will by som tools that i always will have in the boat, just in case.
