Nissan 40 charging system

Hello, I'm in the process of installing a new '05 3cyl 40 hp. Nissan outboard on my Simmons Sea Skiff. I have heard that this motor produces only enough electricity to run itself, not replenish the battery. I do a lot of night fishing and am wondering if I need another battery.
Does anyone with this motor have any input? Thank You.

What model engine do you have?

The engine has an 11 amp charging system.
