Nissan 30hp dies when shifted into gear

My Nissan 30hp model# ns30a3 EF1 Serial 27379 starts and runs good but when i shift into forward or reverse it will die. I have to shift and quickly give it gas to prevent it from dying. any suggestion?

First thing I would check is the spark plugs; Next fuel.
