I am having some problems with my 3.5 HP (Nissan 3.5A). It has been running at half or less of its RPM and power, when I give it full throttle. So far, I have cleaned the carburetor and replaced the head gasket and its performance improved dramatically, it runs great for a short while but then it goes back to running at half or less of its RPM and power. I checked the compression and it has 75psi. So I am not sure if it is a carburetor problem (do I need to rebuild it), or is it something else????

Re: Nissan 3.5A outboard

Welcome to the forums,

That horse should have 78 PSI, so 75 PSI is plenty, is internal filter located inside fuel **** inmaculate clean ? check by removing ****, if ok, was the carb properly soaked in real dip cleaner, could also check carb inside condition, float could be out of adjustment or needle tip worn out. If all points are ok, could be CD, ignition coil heating up missing issues.

Happy Boating

If this is an NS3.5A 2-stroke, there are no valves. Make sure you are not overheating, trying to seize the motor.
