I have a Nissan NS25C2 outboard that requires the set screw for the Gear Shift to be set correctly back in place. This screw is located directly behind the water intake on the outside of the lower unit casing. Basically, half way between the two drain plugs needed to change the oil on the lower unit. Unfortunately it was mistaken as an air valve and pulled out during the lower unit oil change. Now I'm confronted with how to realign this set screw so the Gear Shift mechanism can function properly. I'm assuming the entire lower unit now has to be dropped? What is the best procedure in order to reset this screw back into the casing properly so everything gets lined back up?

Thanks for the help!

Take the lower unit apart...And get a service manual before you start.
