nissan 2.5 2 cycle cooling issue

been using this motor 8 years without a problem....still runs great...serviced annually....always rerun in fresh water after using.
problem on startup this year....no water discharge. checked impeller...was fine but replaced anyway with no resolution of problem....removed side panel....no obstructions noted..rubber tube was clear. tried to blow air both ways with no result, but seems internally restricted.
How would this problem be attacked at this point?

Is the engine actually getting hot or is the pee indicator not peeing? If it's the indicator, just ram a small wire into it and blow some compressed air through it.
