I'm in the process of replacing the impeller in a 1999 nissan 15hp. I've removed the four nuts and seperated the lower unit. But I can't figure out how to seperate the shift linkage. There is no screw, and none of my allen wrenches fit the holes in the connecting piece.

Any help would be much appreciated!

That connecting piece has roll pins, not screws. Find a punch slightly smaller than the diameter of the hole, and tap them out such that they clear the rod but still in the connecting piece. Also, support it such that you don't bend the rods while tapping with hammer.
