Went up to Michigan over the weekend, drove up to the top and on the way back stopped in a town called Hessel. They are supposed to keep lots of vintage boats there so I thought I would take a look. Well this time of year almost all of them were gone but this little gem was still there.

Is that a Chris Craft? The logo on the side looks like it but I can't tell for sure.

OK...I give up. What's the handle sticking out of the floor, the parking brake ;)

It really is in excellent shape though!

Re: Nice Boat

Bob,

I am guessing that it has a helm adjustable cavitation plate. Many flat bottoms of that era had them, usually pedal operated, but that is the onyl thing that makes sense to me . . . On an inboard flatty, they are basically one big trim tab across the entire stern. They push the plate down to get the bow planted for better handling in turns and then back up to get get higher speeds.

The keys are in it. Why don't you take it for a spin?

Re: Nice Boat

I would think that bcause it is an inboard, it probably has a Velvetdrive transmission and the stick is the shifter, F N R.

Re: Nice Boat

It's a 1958 or 1959 Chris Craft Silver Arrow. One of fewer than 100 made. It was Chris Crafts first fiberglass boat, although it was essentially a wooden boat with a glass skin.

And yes, the lever in the floor is the shifter...
