Re: NHL draft
Tough call, MacKinnon sure does bring a lot to the table, but so does Jones.
Offense is the one true way to get points and this kid sure appears to have all of the tools to change the lack of offense for the Avalanche, however, with Adam Foote coming on board as a defensive advisor, picking Jones makes me drool, the Avalanche could become one of the dominant young shut down defensive teams in the NHL, allowing the offense to become more creative. I am a defense minded individual and so I will always say defense, but how do you pass on MacKinnon...
I will be happy either way, but I will be happier if the NHL changes the rules back a little, I hated that the NHL took "Clutching and grabbing" out of the NHL, my opinion is that if they had just removed the red line (as they essentially did) it would make it easier for the referee's to call hooking and holding, by mandating both they changed the game too much.
I like the speed of the game now, but I want hard nosed old school defense too, Adam Foote, Rob Blake style of don't you dare come across the middle, If I wanted to watch European Hockey I would have, this is North America and we play Hockey with a risk of getting your head knocked off if you don't keep your head up, I miss 90's defense.
Why is it ok for Philly and Pittsburgh(when they play each other) but not the rest of the league? And why is it ok in the playoffs but not the rest of the season?
