I read the news about the plane crash in Hudson Bay this morning. The article says "official are still looking for the missing engine, they are using boats equipped with sonar and working with a sonar expert from the NOAA. They think they have found the engine but had to quit because it got dark and diver couldn't verify it." I thought to myself, an object the size of a car?all they had to do was take a couple of bass boats with Humminbird side scanning graph and they would have found it in an hour. :D Heck, Mike Iaconelli lives in New Jersey. I am sure he would have been glad to tow his rig a short distance to the bay and found it in no time. :D

I'm not sure what is going on now, but at one point they had quit because of ice in the river.

Hudson Bay is a long way from the Hudson River and it probably has about 4' of hard water on top of the wet water. :)

Ayuh,... I caught that too JB...

The Hudson River empties into New York Harbor.....
Hudson Bay is in Far northern Canada....

I suspect that the stated Currents, Temps, Ice,+ Timing have something to do with it,...
But,..
I also suspect the fact that the Government is actually doing the job, compounds the problems,...
'cause Every dept. has to be Involved....

The saying "Too many Chiefs,+ Not enough Indians" comes to mind....

Oops, typo! I guess it would be kinda hard to operate a bass boat in there huh? :)

Hard water v. soft water, that is an issue.

I'll bet a bunch of Alabama Rednecks could find that in a heartbeat. If, they turned up the "gain" on the fish finders.

I swim in L-M lake and can hear those things "pinging" from quite a distance.;):D

Re: News headline today

Where did it fall off at, and how far could it have traveled into the the bay?

I would have thought it would fall almost straight down.

Heck yeah! If they can find a stump in the middle of lake Guntersville finding a jet engine would be a piece of cake.

But based on the Port Authority calculation plus eye witness accounts it could be anywhere. :D

If the government is doing it, it will take twice as long as it should and cost four times as much.

I agree,

and then they would have to make it a "for your eyes only" and hold back some critical info, to justify the secrecy. lol

Are you kidding? Some kids already hauled it up on shore, stripped it and cashed it in for scrap. We are talking about NYC ! You know where they make salsa!:D
