newer carb on older motor???

hello im new to boats but have automotive knowledge ...can i put the carbs off a 2000 model johnson 50 on my 1975 evinrude 50?

I think they will fit-----But what is the reason for the swap out ?

i just bought a 1999 pontoon with 2000 johnson 50...the guy let the lower unit freeze and break ..well no luck finding a lower unit so i have a 1975 evinrude that doesnt run that well and wanna make the pontoon go by putting the old motor on it...by the way is it possible to swap the newer johnson into the old housing. i do know the lower units wont interchange
