Ok I have a 14ft jon boat with a 15hp pullstart motor. It has connectors for the pole lights in the front and back. I need to know how to wire a depth finder and trolling motor using one deep cycle battery. Any help is greatly appreciated. FYI i know nothing at all about wiring anything.

Re: newbie wiring problem

Your depth finder and trolling motor are polarity specific. Lights don't care.

Polarity specific means that there is a Positive (+) wire and a Negative (-) wire.

Positive is usually RED but not always. The Negative is usually BLACK but not always. Another indicator may be that the in line fuse is almost always on the POSITIVE lead.

Once you identify positive and negative, just hook them up to the battery accordingly. Positive to the Positive side of the battery and Negative to the Negative side.
