Hey Guys, Im new to boating and this forum and wanted to start out by saying this is great! I have found so much good information so far by digging through previous posts.
I have had jetskis for years and have just traded up to a 96 SeaRayder F14 with Merc Sportjet 120. I am pretty familiar with Rotax engines but boating and this Sportjet is a whole other animal. The boat I got was from the first owner and immaculate, even having all original paperwork. The motor appears to have been well maintained and very clean. I have had the boat out 3 times and runs good. starts up quick and Top speed maybe 35mph with me and my wife.
My questions are...
First I hope this is the correct spot to post about the sportjet 120.. I saw other posts in PWC as well.
Anyone have a link or downloadable service manual for the motor?
What should top speed be on boat with the 120hp motor? I met someone else with the same boat running the 90HP and getting about the same MPH.
The engine seems annoying loud at idle or no wake speed, even with hatch closed. Sounds like a lot of vibration or something internal in the motor, (but this is my first Sportjet so this may be normal), are the engines naturally really loud from the drivers seat?
I have only had the boat out for short trips. Mostly just floating when we got to our destination vs. driving the boat, but I was wondering how much oil I should expect to use? After 3 trips and maybe 30 minute to an hour of running time I dont see much if any oil consumption from the resevoir, I used maybe 1/4 tank of fuel. My seadoos jetskis used to guzzle oil so I wanted to ask.
