Hi everyone. Hopefully I’m in the right place, I have a question about my Yamaha F115. This is my first outboard, I’ve owned IO’s, jets, and V drives in the past. My question is on wintering - does the engine totally drain any remaining water in the engine / drive? The guy I got the boat from said it does. I live in Colorado and got the boat in Arkansas. I don’t want anything freezing up.
Thanks!

When you pull your boat out of the water for the last time, tilt it all the way up and then back down just to be sure all the water drains out....but I doubt it's a problem in any event....at least I've never had any kind of freezing problems, and I've owned a Yamaha 4HP, a 40HP, a 115HP and for the last 20 years a 90HP......my 115 was on a 16 foot Checkmate and that little boat would really move!... Lots of fun!
