Okay O wise ones, plese offer up some info. Been lurking since I got the Searay '72 SRV20 to the house and been schemein', schemen. Ya', I got the rotten' deck blues and all that, no problems for a good gearhead 'cause this thang idles to good not to put in the water this year. My problem is the misstreated lower unit and a slim budget.(who ain't). The prop is pretty well thrashed on sandbars/(rocks?) and the skeg is bent to boot. Does anyone have a method of taking the kink out of this piece of aluminum? Thanx in advance.

I've heard of people using two hammers, one on either side and of others that have used a torct to try to heat it up a bit. Not sur of either method siince I haven't tried them. I have heard of a product that goes by the name Skeggard that bolts over a broken skeg just in case :). A prop shop may be able to help as they will usually work on skegs too.

Hope it floats
I would call a couple of Boat repair shops. I think they can heat it and straighten it. If it brakes then will have to be straightened and welded back on. I do not think many dealers would be able to do this but the repair shops and maybe some prop shops I think can. Hope you will let us know what you find out.

HIF,
Time to get out the BFH,+ a block of Wood.....Use your ca' mere' Method.... Heat Doesn't Help at All with aluminum.... IF by chance it breaks, You're No Worse off than you are now..
Anybody with a mig welder can reattach it if nessesary...Wet rags on the "bullet" will protect the seals,etc....
Good Luck, I've done this Many times....
