Hi all, just wanting some opinions. I found a 1990 nissan bass boat with a 50 horse nissan motor. The boat seems in good shape and comes with a fish finder, and 56 pound thrust trolly motor (not sure the brand). I'm going later today to take it out with the owner. I will loosen the drain on the lower unit and check the oil, pull the engine cover and look around. All carpet and seats are in very good shape and the paint is in good shape. The prop is aluminum and in good shape. The bottom of the lower unit is scratched up but looks okay. My only concern is the motor which i'll know more later. Anyway he's asking $3500 and i was going to offer $3200. Does this seem fair? assuming the motor is good and all. Does anyone have any input on the nissan boats and motors? Thanks in advance

According to the NADA guide, the price is within reason, depending on the boat model. You don't give the boat's length or model number, so it's a little hard to judge, but most of the Nissan boats from that year fall into that price area or a little less.

Condition is critical here. If you can do a compression test on the motor, as well as the on-the-water tests, that would help.

Nissan quit making boats in 1998, so that may be a factor for you. You can read up on people's experiences with Nissan outboards in the Honda/Nissan troubles forum.
