Last year my dad gave me a 18' glass Starcraft boat. It has an inboard motor, disassemblied V8, but the hull looks great. Dad also just gave me a 21' 1970 Starcraft Cheiftain with inboard 4 cyclinder, 120 Hp. This boat is in relative good condition and it runs, but dad said water is coming in so fast that he thought that 10 minutes in the water and the boat will probably sink. No obvious holes in hull. Not sure where to start. Anyway, where can I order rebuild manuals for the outdrive, wiring, etc. for vintage Starcraft boats.
I need all the help I can get as I am also rebuilding a 1968 Airstream Camper. Must be hooked on aluminum. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Welcome to Iboats.

You can start by going to the Mercruiser Engine section in I boats forum and go to ADULTS ONLY and in there is manuals for you engine and outdrive to download.

What boat are you going to fix ?

I have never seen a aluminum Starcraft leak that bad unless the bellows on your outdrive is ripped.

To find out if the hull is leaking , on a trailer put a hose in it and fill it 12" high of water and you will see where it leaks.

As for the fiberglass hull , it will ride nicer "more smooth in rougher water" but will be much heavier and suck twice as much fuel as the Cheiftain.

How about some pics of these ?

There is a wealth of info on Iboats and many people will help you.

Feel free to ask any ?'s
