newbie fisherman. needing some info.

hello all, i hadnt fished for about 10 years until march this year. ive really gotten into it. i go every chance i get and have learned alot. however, i have never done any river fishing nor do i claim to know anything about it. my question is actually pretty stupid. can i fish in the river using a regular fishing pole and gear like spoons and inline spinners? sorry im really new to this. any info is greatly appreciated.

It would be helpful for those wanting to answer your question if you could be a little bit more specific.

1. What is your location and/or what river?
2. What species are you targeting?
3. Bank fisherman or do you have access to a boat?

Maybe then we can answer your question.

im in mesa az. (sorry thought i had it listed) looking for some of the rivers not too far away. looking like lower salt river. targeting trout and bass if possible.
yes i do own a boat, but i was thinking fishing off the bank or standing in the water.

I know nothing about trout fishing and only a little bit more about bass. I would think any "normal" bass lure (jigs, plastic worms grubs, etc, crank baits, etc would be a start for bass.

Good luck and maybe someone closer to you can be specific to your local rivers.
