newbie boat owner intro and question

Hello All,<br />I would like to introduce myself to this Forum and ask for some indulgence while I get up to speed. My name is Jack and I recently purchased a 1971 21'Glasply Hardtop with a 165HP Mercruiser I/O. I have next to no experience with boating in general. The boat will be used primarily for fishing on Kootenay Lake in British Columbia, Canada. We're just north of the Idaho/BC border. I am wondering what size of 4-stroke motor would be adequate for trolling with a boat this size and if there is any preferences among you all as far as manufacturers go. Hi Jack,<br />Merc makes a multi grade 25-40wt that works good in the older boats. When it was new Merc<br />wanted a straight 30 wt in it. I run a syn 15-50 in mine,but it's not required. I just run it in every 4 stroke I own and change it<br />as motor specs,not oil co. specs.<br /><br />Nice area you live in, welcome aboard.
