newb with a 50 horse quest ?

First off after fighting with johnnyrude for years i bought a 84 merc 50 horse . The motor runs great lots of power , but it has a wierd issue when u open the throttle leaving the launch , the trottle responds well till about 25 percent open , then past that point i can open it up all the way and it kinda slowly acclerates till it hits 3/4 open then acts fines . the motor when coming down from speed dosnt miss a beat , i was thinking timing ? or linkage in the controlls ? anybody run across this before

rebuild the carbs and fuel pump either one can cause your motor to act up
