i guess you take a zoom trick worm and wacky rig it with an O-ring, but you put a little skrew or worm weight in the tail.

I dont know about this riq cause ive never tried it, but my friends keep talkin about it even though they havent tried it either. so i was just wondering if anyone has tried or even heard of this.

Why would you want to do that? the idea of wacky rig is for the two ends to flutter as it fall. If you put a weight on one end then it would become basically a texas rig and then dive on the fall. I have seen trim nail inserted between the o-ring and the worm to add a some weight to the rig.

i think it might be becuaue if you almost "jig" it up it gets kind of that fluttering, but then when you stop it drops, but like i said, i've never tried it and im really not sure about the rig.

Well try it and see how it does. It might actually be worthwhile for all we know.

Ya i would've tried it a long time ago but by the time i had heard of it the water temp up here is so low that bass will only bite x-raps, huskyjerks, drop shots and other slow presentations, so it would be almost pointless

It didn't neccesarily mean try it now. You might have better luck in the spring. I don't know what your fish are like up there because down here the water never gets below 40.

Re: new trick worm rig?

There's been some discussion of it on my local fishing board - can't find it cause they just "upgraded" and the search feature is busted (sound familiar)? Apparently with one end weighted it just stands straight up kinda like something trying to dig a hole.

it's www.texasfishingforum.com in case you want to check it out.

I`ve done somthing similar but with a craddad type bait. You put the bait on a weightless basic texas rig. (Hook eye comes out the nose). Then insert a nail weight into the tail and when it sinks it will glide away from you. Works great around docks. Depending on the depth it can glide as far as 6-10'.

yeah i have used that quite a bit around docks, but i can always do better with the wacky rigged green pumpkin 4in senco, those things are magical

Always thought the idea behind the weight in the tail was to make it fall in the direction is was pitched (or cast).
Like LubeDude said. With some practice, It's pretty slick the way one will glide back under a dock.

Not sure why the wacky rig though. Must give it a different look or action than the hook in the nose?

I have used that rig several times and I nose hook the bait texas style and it does make the bait fall away from you around docks just like that flying lure use to do back years ago. It allows to bait to swim backwards when you pull on it. I make a bait similar to GYB's senkos except mine floats and I tail weight it to get it to swim back under docks and over hanging bushes and in tree tops but I have never fished it wacky style with tail weight.

Re: new trick worm rig?

Ok i finnally figured it out in a big tank at work. You fish it almost like you would a wacky rigged senco. Except with a trick worm with a very light weight in the larger end. When you let the bait fall it of course, it falls sideways (not backward) weighted end first. While falling the non-weighted end trails the weighted end, fluttering the whole way.

From what i saw it looked like in the right conditions it could be a very good tactic to draw a reaction strike. Im really excited to use this in a lake nearby that recieves alot of fishing pressure, now i can give the fish a presentation that they havent seen before. Now i just need the water to warm up a bit! Cant wait!
