Want to add more bearing grease (via bearing buddies) to my new trailer (shoreland'r 3100) before a long haul(500 kms). Dealer do not know what brand , is it ok to add a different brand or repack. Trailer has about 25 miles on it. Thank you for your opinion.

Be sure not to overlad buddies. You may get overheat. Using a good quality grease should be just fine, assuming that the buddies are cleaned well and packed. If you are traveling that far, the first stop check the heat off the wheel with a oven type guage. As long as they are not smoking, they will be fin. I would sugges that you match the berrings with a spare. One going out on the side of the road aint no fun. Been their, done that.

Thom

Check to see if hubs need grease first. If you can rock the disc inside the hub(where the grease zerk is) no more grease is needed. If the disc is bottomed (all the way in) just add till the disc STARTS to move outward. Adding grease to a Bearing Buddy does not replace the grease in the bearings. It only adds more to the void spots inside the hub between the bearings and adds a slight pressure to the hub, helping to keep out water. You should always use the same grease because many lubes will not mix well, but this will not make them fail. Best advice yet however-get Liqua-Lubes!
