New trailer lights worked fine, it's a magic tilt, my tail lights on my car are fine and still work, the trailer is wired into the lights of the car, I checked the car fuses and haven't found any of them blown any suggestions

Re: NEW TRAILER LIGHTS JUST WENT OUT

Hi 91formula same thing happens with my boat trailer. I pull the plug and re-plug, wiggle the thing and they always come on. If they still won't work, use a tester on your vehicle plug in to satisfy that there is power at least to there. The problem is usually simple, like dirt or cobwebs. Good Luck :)

Make sure you have a good ground. If the trailer is grounded through the coupler/ball connection, you may not be getting a good ground. Use the white wires on the plugs to establish ground on both the tow vehicle and trailer.

Well, LarryC, you beat me to the ground thought. I was trying to get this new laptop logged on and don't yet have password saved.

Another thing, did you back trailer into water with lights plugged up? If bulbs are hot, the water can cause them to burst. Although, a new trailer should have sealed lights. I always (most of time ;) ) unplug lights before backing down ramp. Just remember to plug 'em back in after taking boat out.

BL...

BLifsey, you need to consider a set of Dry Launch trailer lights. Had them as original equipment on an EZ Loader I bought over 20 years ago. ZERO maintenance, no lamps replaced, NADA, zilch! (and lots of salt water trips).

Re: NEW TRAILER LIGHTS JUST WENT OUT

I know but my wife calls me cheap. It doesn't cost me anything to unplug the lights before backing in. My wife usually backs down ramp for launch/retrieve. Maybe I could bust one of the lenses, blame it on her backing and buy some new ones ;) . Seriously, thanks for advice...Maybe I can make replacing lamps a "winter" project. Many jon boat fishman around here mount there lights on top of trailer guides to keep them out of the water.

BL...
