Does it match the boats color? Looks like a little orange peel in the last pic.

Orange peel looks good. Just as nice as a factory vehicle paint.

So are you asking opinions on the paint job or how it tows?

For towing, the Toyota trucks of that vintage are fair at best. Clutch is the weak point.

Re: New Tow Vehical fresh outta the booth

The largest ill tow with it would be a 18 foot bayliner not a heavy hull to say the least.

the truck is rated at 4,800 lbs GVWR the truck weighs in at 2,420 lbs

max 2,380 lbs GTWR

The paint looks great. I'd hit the bumpers and wheels with the same blue to really make it pop.

I wouldn't tow an 18' Bayliner with that truck.

Botton line, those trucks were not made for towing.

Re: New Tow Vehical fresh outta the booth

Had the exact same truck. I used it to pull a 20' foot boat out of my side yard so that I could hook it up to my Suburban. Just from doing that it fried the clutch...and that was pretty level!

If you have an automatic, it might be a different story. What do you have?

Re: New Tow Vehical fresh outta the booth

No offense but if you didnt ride it so bad or used 4 wheel low you would not have had that problem.

These trucks use the same exact clutch part number as a turbo Supra. The pressure plate is rated at 1850 psi which is good for approx 240 ft lb tq.

stock the motor puts out:

22RE 116 HP @ 4800 TORQUE 140 @ 2900

I wouldn't use this for towing long distances or over hills but around me it will work fine.

Re: New Tow Vehical fresh outta the booth

I tow my 18' Bayliner with a Toyota 4Runner with the v6 and 5000 lb. towing capacity. 183 HP, 217 ft lbs at 3600 rpm. It handles it ok, but I wouldn't want to attempt it with any smaller vehicle. I've owned trucks like in the picture, and they seem to be light in the rear and easy to push around with a load behind it. Its the stopping I'd be worried about, especially if you had to do it quickly in an emergency. But thats just my .02 worth.

22re is a great motor. I think the clutch will be okay as long as it is a bowrider you are towing. I have an 19 foot cuddy cabin and I don't think that truck would tow it very well. Also watch your leaf springs in the back and make sure they don't bottom out. Even if they don't you will probably have to replace your shocks pretty reguarly to maintain a good ride.

Re: New Tow Vehical fresh outta the booth

I went with a extra leaf (add-a-leaf) to give some life back to the springs and going to install rancho 9000 adjustable shocks to retain a smooth ride when towing

i am disappointed with highway travel, it really needs more power lol
