New to the O/B game - 2 easy questions

2 quick questions...

At the end of last year we traded our I/O ski boat for the pontoon lifestyle. I've never had a O/B and am now a little confused on the correct next steps.

We have a merc 4-stroke.

We winterized and disconnected the batteries last fall.

(1) Is there a "summarization" procedure for Outboards?
(2) the dealer recommend a 10-hour break in service...kind of sounded a little hokey to me, esp. for a 4-stroke...thoughts?

10 hr break in after winterized is not right. fresh oil in your lower unit and fresh gas, is all i do.

What exactly have you got for an outboard, and what exactly was your winterization procedure?

If you didn't change the motor oil and filter last winter, now is the time. There is special FC-W oil for four cycle outboards.

Is this a new motor? Are you saying that the dealer recommends a service after the first 10 hours of use because it's new?
What does your manual say?
