New to the forum with a question

Howdy folks, I just traded for a 1991 650 waverunner. It is in very good condition but has a blown water lock. My first question is how and why did this box explode, so to speak. It has a crack across one whole side. And second, will the repair I made , hold. I sanded it down and covered the area with Marinetex.
This looks like a great forum, thanks for any help given.

Is it possible it froze over the winter somewhere? Not knowing where the PWC lived I can only speculate. As far as the repair holding, I don't know but it should since there is no real pressure internally. Let us know how it all works out.

I tried to repair my window washer resevoir on my car that had several cracks in the plastic. I gouged out the cracks and fiberglassed over them. It still leaked so i poured some epoxy in the bottom and let the epoxy find the leaks. Now its good as new. I had to be careful not to let it reach the pickup. If you have cracks on the sides you may have to do multiple bottom pours by setting on each side, pouring and let it set up. Then rotate pour and let it set up. I dont think putty will work.
