Hi All,

New to the forum. And a new boat owner too - not new to the water having been a sailor, diver, and Naval Aviator for years - but this is my first power boat and the first boat I have personally owned.

It's a 1978 Starcraft Holiday V5 14' Aluminum Runabout with 1979 Johnson SeaHorse Magflash CD 55HP.

Here are some pics:

Welcome to the forum!

That's a sweet rig right there... and in very good shape! I bet it's a blast to fly around the lake in!

Welcome man! Very nice looking rig!

That is a very unique spec to come out of the factory. Where were those pics taken? Looks like the ADK!

Jim,

I've done a few minor things - first was to refurbish the steering wheel (that nasty duct tape fix had to go!). I've also installed a larger 12-gallon fuel tank (which I need to move to the bow), a fish finder and a small trolling motor.

The wiring is a bit of a mess, so I would like to clean that up. Considering dual-batteries because of the trolling motor. And there is some rot in the port aft end of the deck. Not sure yet if I will repair that or leave it for a full restoration.

One day I would like to strip it and do a complete resto so it's factory fresh with nice new paint etc. It will be a great platform because it's already in great shape.

I would like to add fuel, volt and tach gauges...but I do not want to cut into that pristine dash in any way...so not sure yet how I will accomplish that.

I got to 35mph with a 12.25 x 15 prop. Pretty cool!

The pics were taken in the Lanark Highlands in Ontario, Canada.

You might try to fab an under dash bracket & gauge pod, that way new holes thru the dash aren't necessary. An auto gauge pod may be adaptable.

Some do an above the dash gauge pod, but that has to be attached to the bow cover &/or the current dash pad somehow. That'd leave some visible holes if you remove it. The dash pad may not be original, though It seems really padded & I can't remember seeing another w/ anything similar.
