Hello to everyone and this would be my first post. I am glad I ran across this site because I am new to the boat restoration and repair. I have been an auto tech for GM for 21 years and I just found out that boats with I/O are a whole different animal!

I bought a 1991 Sportcraft with a 4cyl Volvo and the seller told me that he had replaced the 4cyl Volvo Penta with one (the same) that he had taken out of a Bayliner. (dont have the numbers but I will post them as soon as I get home because I am at work). He sat this motor in and said that the wiring was all that needed to be hooked up and I get the boat home and find out that the strainer neck to the heat exchanger is broken and there is absolutely no motor mounts or engine to mount bracket on the motor and/or no where in the boat. Well, I got the boat for a great deal (you can stop laughing now) and have purchased most of the interior and gutted the boat. Now I am ready to go back together with new parts but I am having a hard time finding parts for this motor! tried ebay, tried local with nothing but dissapointment. Now I am asking anyone that reads this thread to maybe give me some hinters on the best places to look for usesd stuff for a volvo.

I am looking forward to reading these threads and getting to know everyone here. I love to rebuild things and this boat project leaves me with nothing but excitement waiting to get home and work on my boat. Looks like a great place here and another hello to everyone!

Don't bash Volvo due to your inexperience.
I prefer Volvo over Mercruiser and I've owned both.

That being said, we need you to post your engine numbers.
If the engine is the same year as the boat, parts should not be hard to find.
I use a local Volvo dealer and there are also sites on the internet.
Good luck
