Relative just bought an '84 Suzuki 65 horse. Suppose to be a good running condition so far but buying it in the winter he didn't see it running. I'm wondering what if any is the biggest difference in design/operation between this Suzuki and a comparable size Mercury of the same generation? Anything too look for in particular on this motor vs other brands of this era?

Re: New to Suzuki

is it fresh or a salt water motor? My dt 75 is just as strong as a friends evanrude 88/90 hp both motors are on 16ft deep v sylvans.I ask about the salt, because I have 2 dt75 and salt water one is in worse shape, got both used. If salt water flush with fresh everytime you come off the water. good luck very happy with mine

The Suzuki power is rated at the prop.Merc and OMC are rated at the powerhead. Therefore the smaller Suzuki puts out more giddyup.
