New to me!!!

Well I recently (2 weeks ago) purchased a 1994 Monark Sunspa 240 24' pontoon. I searched all over and finally found her on Craigslist of all places. The upohlstry is in pretty good shape and the deck is solid as a rock. New batteries and the motor (120 horse Force by Mercury) fired right up on the muffs. Has small problem with steering (old grease seized up shaft) but other than that nothing major. The fuse panel is the old glass tube types and I was wondering about changing that to make the electrical system more reliable. Any thoughts as to which route to go or can someone recommend a part or parts they have used. Thanks in advance for any help. I am new to Iboats and boating in general and would really appreciate any help.

Congrats on the new boat.

Go to the iboats store, I would be really suprised if they didn't have a breaker panel, as a hint before you disconnect a wire put a masking tape flag on it marking what it is and what it does so you don't end up with a bunch of wires in your hand with no idea what they do.

Re: New to me!!!

Congrats on the new toon. They're loads of fun. Unless you're already experiencing issues you might want to give it a while before changing the fuse block. My '01 barge still uses the fuses you mention and I've never had a problem. I keep extras handy, but I've never had to change one and I store the rig in my back yard, covered of course. Trust me, you'll find plenty of other things you want to improve on her (assuming you're always messing with stuff like I am). Just a thought that might save you a couple of bucks and a few headaches. Good luck and welcome:cool:!
