OK boys I drug a new boat home. I will try to get some pics posted tomorrow, but here is the description. It has a Glavanized EZ loader roller trailer, I think it is a 1969 Holiday 16. Hope you experts can help with that! The hull looks great! No motor no steering controls floor solid and transom solid. Hope I didn't pay too much but I gave $500.00 for it (any thoughts). I plan to totaly strip it and gut it and start fresh with a bare hull. New paint, new floors with some mods. Box seats (back to back style) and set up for fishing. Raw water wash down, 2 bilge pumps, fish storage, and a pot puller (Crab and Shrimp). I have a fresh rebuild 1978 70HP Merc I am planning for power. I also have a very nice 5hp Yamaha I am planning for a kicker. It looks like it is rated for 85HP is the 70HP going to be enough? I am hoping to take lots of photos and keep everyone up to date on my progress. I would love any input anyone has regarding my plans for this boat. I think it will be a great little fishing boat when completed.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Dan if it had been a glass boat I would have said you paid to much but a Tin Can with a galzanised trailer I think you did Ok. The 70HP outboard should do fine with that boat it wont be the fastest boat on the water but should do pretty well. When you get ready to start tearing her apart start a thread in the Resto section theres several of us over there doing restos on our boats plus we like to show the glass guys how much easier Tincans are to restore :D.

Dan I like your plans for her;) She will be a fishing machine after all that work!

Is it a flip open windshield or solid? Some of the Holidays have steps with a flip-open access to the bow(see CheapBoatKev's Holiday for an example).

I believe that 70hp will do just fine. Love the plans for raw water washdown and fish wells, I'm assuming you will be going with vinyl deck rather than carpet to keep her clean after hauling in some seafood:D

Good luck:)(will look for some photos of the old girl)

Re: New to Me Starcraft Holiday 16?

Well after some snooping around I found the tag on it. I made a mistake this is a Jupiter....now the big question what is the difference between the jupiter and the hoiday lines. The look very similar to me but i am new to this starcraft thing. This is a 1969 model and has the flip open windshield. I think she is going to be a great fishing boat. Looking forward to getting some pics up and going. I worked on the trailer a little today want to make sure that is in tip top shape too!

Thanks,
Dan

That is a neat boat: I had a Nassau - 16 feet - the Jupiter Slots between the Nassau and the Holiday - which I think starts at 18 feet. Wider deeper than the Nassau - I am sure somewhere on the forum here you can find a pamphlet with the Specs. Get a 90 - more power is always better!!!

Throw some pics on!!

Dan there are several of us with Jupiters around here . I have one which you can find in the link at the bottom of my post . Andy in NY has one ezmobee ( EZ ) has one well ok hopefully by now he doesnt have one ( he was supposed to meet the buyer this morning to transfer it ) he just picked up a 18' Super Sport to restore . I dont really know the differances between the Jupiter and the Holidays Holidays were avaliable from 14' all the way up to 22' as where Jupiters were only 16'. Mine is a 1970 and should be close to the same as yours North Beach will show up eventually ( he has alot of 60's brochures ) and should be able to tell us the major differances between the Holiday and Jupiter lines. Oh by the way do us a favor and go up to the User Cp ( upper left corner of the page ) and edit your profile with your location us Starcrafters like to know where each other is at :D.

Mike I have a small issue with that Brochure :D it says the 70 had a black interior and mine was deffinately blue . I wonder if you couldnt special order them with a differant interior color . I know mine is a 70 . I have to wonder who in their right mind would order a boat with a black interior talk about burning your backside ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuch.

LOL Rick...I agree black is NOT the choice color for vinyl...also I was curious about the "adjustable lounge seat headrests"...never seen those on a boat before:D
