I picked this up for free, been in storage 15 yrs. I hooked up a fuel source to the carb, put the lower end in a barrel of water and got it started. It sounds pretty good but the water pump dosn't work so I shut it off. I will need to replace the water pump and clean the pieces of rubber out of the system, install a fuel pump, obtain a gas tank and hoses and replace the plugs. I'm guessing this will cost around $125- $150 in parts with lots of labor. What I want to know, is this motor worth it? If I were to sell it would I be able to get my money back, is there any collector value to it or just its usefullness.
Thanks
Dave

nice find for free!! check compression before spending money on it. since it does run , thats a good sign. depending on what has been done to the motor over the years, it could easily cost $150 to bring it back to "right". forget about labour! you wont recover that! not much collector value unless its in great condition.
but...if you spend some time and a some $$$ on it, get it running well.....you will have found yourself a great hobby. and that motor will run as good as any new one, and last another 50 years if it has been looked after by the po's!
