I'm about to take delivery of a 19ft 2001 Larson bow rider with a 4.3 volvo with vortec heads. During the test ride, I was very impressed with the performance. Even when we pulled his kid up on a wake board, it didn't struggle very much at all. Top speed was indicating about 45 mph once trimmed.
Now, the thing diesels just a little when shut off. Other than that, it ran great. When I get the boat, I want to give it a full tune up. Timing is the main culprit of dieseling, right? Does this mean I may be down on power?
I also want to start getting the parts together for a 4bbl upgrade. I've been reading and searching and searching and reading. A lot of threads I found are from 05 or 06. Are people still using the same parts?
From what I gather, I'm going to need:
Edlebrock performer 600cfm carb
4bbl mid rise intake manifold
4bbl spark arrester
Throttle cable bracket???
I'm thinking I'm going to try to find this stuff used to save some money. If I can that is.
Can someone quickly confirm what I need? With part numbers? I know I also read a few posts where people accidently got the wrong intake manifold and were disappointed with the performance they lost. I don't want to do that.
Thanks,
Steve
