Hi guys,
My friend and I just got a 14' Mckee with what I believe is an '82 Johnson 70hp. I figured that out via your site...:D:D The model number is J70ELCNB.

Besides the above, I know NOTHING about boats and figured that getting a manual would be a good start so I can see how the motor works, maintainance, etc. That being said, would this be the manual for the job?

Also, a REALLY stupid question(note, I'm NOT a boat guy..yet) How do I go about raising and lowering the engine(for moving)? I saw a latch on the left side of the motor(if coming from the back of the boat) but I can't seem to lift the motor up regardless of the latch position! :p:p

Man, I feel like such a n00b, but have to start somewhere! :D:D

Lift up a bit on the lower while you rotate the latch, it should release and allow you to lift it and yes a manual is a good start (get an OMC one, people swear buy them) , take a safe boating course as well if you can, it explains everything you need to know about safe boating. Ahoy, alphadog!

Welcome to iboats. :)

That Manual is a Seloc, A-dog. Not the right one. You need the OEM Manual from OMC suggested by bk.

You can get those at www.outboardbooks.com
