new to boating - Mariner 9.9 HP cutting our after running for a few minutes

I am able to get my Mariner 9.9hp motor started, but after a few minutes the motor just cuts out, regardless of the running speed. When I prime, the bulb goes hard and the engine starts, but when it stalls, the bulb is soft. It appears I can keep it running if I continually pump the bulb. I think the fuel like is ok, and the fuel/oil is all brand new - the fuel tank is very old - could there be a problem with that?

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to iboats.

Get a proper manual for the motor and I suspect you will be rebuilding the fuel pump to fix that problem.
