that seats 9-15 people 1800-2400 lbs max, can I do this new or used for around $50K?

I can't find anything really that goes this fast. I have checked into these brands already. And yes, its pretty much a must have for my dad that the boat be fast, at least with him and my mom in it only. Can anyone recommend any brands to look into? I am in AZ if it matter. TIA!

Sea Ray (too $$)
Chaparral (close but no cigar)
Tahoe
Tracker
Moombi
Supra (too $$)
Ski Nautique (too $$)
Tige (too $$)
Bayliner

Ok...I was being silly...but there are Pontoon boats out there that fit your requirements.

How about one of these: http://www.starcraftmarine.com/Showroom/Specifications.aspx?TypeId=20&SeriesId=141&ModelId=1372&Type=Runabout&Series=Limited%20I/O&Model=2321%20I/O

Should be able to get into one of these for less than 50K new....don't know top speed...but with that weight and HP it should be able to touch 50 or better with the right prop.

If I was spending $40 to $50 I would buy a five year old Cobalt 262. Best riding boat that meets your needs. Cobalt makes a great boat that is built to last. New the are $$$. You can cross out any ski boat if you really want to go over 50 MPH.

Really helpful links, thanks so much.

Cobalt seems like a good way to go, I'll take a look at the startcraft too, That yellow one in safford looks pretty long, I forgot to mention we have to stay under 24 feet.

Pontoon boats, that definitely won't fly lol! No way my dad will be seen in a pontoon boat on the lake. He likes to drive his GTOs, he if he could make one into a boat he totally would!

Check out stingray boats. Your not getting 15 people on board. Pick up last year's 225lr with the captain's call exhaust, biggest v8 you can get. It will hit 60.

There is a nice used one for sale around here: http://nashville.craigslist.org/boa/2164919969.html

My dad had a great Regal bowrider, 2200 model I think, with the Volvo DuoProp on it. That was an awesome boat, it would rip a stump right out of the ground and he got it running up around 50 I do believe. Hard to go wrong with a Regal.

So we learn a bit more about what you want, under 24 foot and your dad has an ego(as do a lot of us). The important thing to tell your dad is, that toon will smoke probably half the boats out there on lakes. Staying under 24 foot and capable of carrying 15 people is going to be tough, My 248 Crownline will do 55 mph carrying 6 adults and 7 teenagers, it was tight but it was legal, wouldn't want to make a habit of it but it worked in a pinch. Where in Arizona are you? Craigslist is a very good resource in AZ I bought my first boat in Tucson and brought it back to Colorado very good prices and a very good selection of boats. The Cobalt I posted is an older model but as previously stated they are widely regarded the best quality manufactured boat for many years. There are many other boats that are excellent quality as well but they all state their quality against Cobalt, that should tell you something. I prefer a sportier boat with smoother lines, high end quality and I found Crownline that's all it took for me. Chaparral, Monterrey and a few others are top end quality boats as well but lets not confuse that with what is most important, what are you looking for? Are you seeing yourself and your family in a new or gently used boat? A Cruiser with sleeping quarters or a Bowrider with room to sun Bathe? What is a realistic load your likely to be carrying most often? I can tell you I prefer gently used boats then purchasing new as I don't like taking the "hit" once you pull off the lot, but also any boat purchased used can be an excellent boat for you but even a Cobalt that has been abused for a couple years can be less of a boat then any entry level boat taken care of properly.

Do you not see red flags here? Inexperienced boater, 10 15 people, 60 miles per hour on the water. A recipe for disaster. A deck boat that would not exceed 35 would be more appropriate. I am not telling you what to do, but.....

Our Starcraft does mid 50's with just me and a half tank of gas onboard....in very calm water.
I think I've seen 45 with a full boat of 13, but that was burning a bunch of gas.

Used Baja bowrider would fit the bill....should be able to get a newer used one for that price range.

Just wondering, what would you have us do? Not give our opinions or advice on the premise that the OP could be an inexperienced boater? based on the 2 posts the OP has made so far? The OP has asked us our opinion based on his/her criteria and we have given honest answers, as we get to know the OP better we can better guide him or her but the last time I checked anyone can purchase any boat they can afford without any training in Arizona. So I guess we tell the OP a 14' Tinny with a 30 hp out board is preferable and since he wishes to carry 15 people he will need 4....until he becomes an experienced boater? How does this make sense?

For speed and sports, but I think a 24' Islander only is rated for 8 people.

Welcome, BTW!

I don't favor the 'toons either, but I won't dismiss the power that they're putting on them.
Nothing like getting smoked by a 70mph 'toon on the waters of LOTO.

No you tell him just what mphy98 said.

There is no reason on this earth to be going 60mph with 15 people on a boat no matter how experienced you are. That is a recipe for disaster. When someone says he is inexperienced and wants this he is obviously in party mode.
I want to know what body of water he is going to be on because I want to be as far away from him as possible.
