New to boating, Have some questions on some of the controls

I just bought a 1976 Johnson Seahorse 35hp. There are somethings im not sure what they do.

It starts great but, it runs funny. it idles and every few seconds it seems to miss, not sure how to explain it, If I give it gas it runs just fine, I had it on the river yesterday and it seems to run just fine, but at idle it dont seem right.

As for the controls Here are some pictures

Id like to know what this adjuster does.

id like to know how to adjust the handle, because it seems like its off a few degrees or something?

If the handle is off a few degrees either the text has slipped or mor likely someone turned it while it was rotated in the up position. I've seen this cause the handle to slip a gear or two causing this problem. Look ath the gearing carefully you should be able to tell if it's slipped.

Thanks for the info on the 2nd pic. What about the first pic. Is that pretty much like a idle adjuster?

Do you mean the silver thing that kinda looks like a hook?
If so that be you tilt lock if I'm not mistaken.

i have no idea what the silver hook is, not a stock item. Read the TOP SECRET FILE, 1st thread in this forum, then ask questions.
