So I just picked up a 2013 Suntracker 20 dlx Party Barge with a 2012 60 Hp Mercury 4 stroke EFI Bigfoot. Everything is in excellent condition and came off of a 120 acre lake. The engine is claimed to have just 20 hours on it according to the marina that brokered the sale. Previous owner stated it has never been in to be serviced. Now I assume there is a break in period and then a service that would follow it. What all needs checked out and done either as a part of break in or due to age? I have oil and filter and gear oil in hand. I plan to pickup an impeller and probably fuel filters. Is there anything particularly quirky about this engine?

Can't help you here BUT, I recently bought a Tracker Grizzly with a 30hp Merc 4 stroke EFI. I started asking around about the exact same question: after breakin is there a point where the engine should go to Mercury dealer for service. The answers I got were as follows: Bass Pro Shops (where I bought boat) -50 hours. Local Tracker dealer-150 hours. Marina that is certified as Mercury repair shop. -300 hours. Asked if there is a way to tell how many hours engine has been running (no meter on this boat) and was told: YES the dealer can plug into the electonics of the engine and get a readout. And NO, no way to tell unless an hour meter is hooked up to begin with. Gonna go back and read the owners manual again.
