Re: new to 4 stroke

We've done a bunch of 25/30 EFI motors. All reliable, all smooth. All with brisk (no bog) acceleration. The usual maintenance rules apply... regular oil and LU lube changes, and draining of the fuel system's vapor separator if storing for a few months. If you will be storing the motor in freezing conditions, verify that the exhaust housing has a 5mm drain hole near (slightly above) the oil drain plug. If not, have your dealer add that.

i have a new 1648 mv weldbilt, 100 ga. 30 hp efi tohatsu. 16 hrs. tpped out at 30.1 mph, gps. 2 people and gear will run 27 mph wot. +/- 1 mph. cruise all day @ 4400 rpm @21-22 mph. uses very little gas. actually went and bought the 3 gal tank. the 6 gal took up too much room in the boat. if i think i might need more gas i will take a 1 gal can with me. no choke and u can start it without a battery

Your dealer will have a tech bulletin on the drain hole. Allows complete draining of water from the exhaust housing "leg". Applies to long shaft motors of a specific serial number range. If you have a short shaft, not necessary.

Re: new to 4 stroke

i ordered my weldbilt from backwoods landing in al. love it so far. i carpeted it. u can see some pics at their facebook page. very heavy gage 100. in hindsight i think i would have been ok with a 80 gage. the trailer is way heavier duty then my last one and comes with led lites and ez lube hubs. mine is painted. the engine is my 2nd tohatsu. i am in love with it so far. i am real anal about maintenance. i really watch my gas and do not ever let it get old.u will hear a lot of good things about backwoods landing, i drove 250 miles one way to pick it up. let us know how it goes.

Your tach is reading incorrectly. Idle is 850, +/- 30.
If you need to drain the vapor separator for storage, open the brass drain plug at the bottom of the bowl. The exact location will be clear once you review the Factory service manual (available from any dealer, including me).

What setting should hardline be on

Never used one. We typically use the Factory tachometers, which are alternator-operated. What is it set to now? What options do you have? I would call hardline for ideas. Many inductive tachs will have problems with the very-high energy ignition systems on modern CD-ignition outboards. Sometimes that can be fixed through careful routing of the sensor wire.
