ok here is what I have. A vortec 350 with an Indmar intake. the thermostat mounting location is too far forward on the manifold. it puts the water inlet hose right in the belts.

I have read some other threads on this and havent quite got the answer im looking for.
http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=358963&highlight=indmar+intake

I have the same issue as the above thread.

what I need to know is with the smaller indmar tstat housing, which is minus 2 water passages going to exhaust, which holes do I plug?
The manifold port? the elbow port?

whats with the special gasket I may or may not need? how do I know if I need the gasket?

this boat has thru hull exhaust. dont know if that matters.

this is an engine going in a 87 Formula 242. but.. the entire project is new to me. this is the state of things as I recieved it so not much background.

Thanks

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.... How much of the rest of the cooling system is indmar,..??

Generally, the exhaust manifolds are plumbed to match the T-stat housing...
Pluggin' ports on the T-stat housing usually means ya need a different housing...

Got any Pictures,..??

This is a mix n match for all I know. the exhaust manifolds are the center riser. the intake manifold is the only indmar part that i am aware of.
the old tstat housing is poking out into the belts due to the more forward mounting location on the intake.

the pics in tae linked thread are the same thing I got going.http://lh5.googleusercontent.com/pu...2puY_GUcbs0Ck2G1cRIdQTJl_ew6IGe4Qzhfq6w=s90-c

hopefully that is a pic up there. thats the old one.

this is the one I want to use.

I need to plug ports on the Exhaust manifolds. not on the tstat housing

well thats not the best visual..The old housing had 6 total ports. 4 went to the exhaust manifolds. 2 per side, one on the elbow, one on the exhaust manifold at the bottom center.
the tstat housing I would like to use has only two total ports to the exhaust.

Where should I hook them up?
