New Shorlander tandem trailer?

Hi Guys:

I finally got my tandem trailer. I had some questions about my single axle trailer that we discussed in an earlier thread which lead me to replacing it with this tandem.

The trailer is a new 2010 model good for 4600lbs.

I had to adjust the the bunks a little and am wondering if the boat is properly place on the trailer. I should go weigh it, axles and tounge, but was just wanting some opinions on the placement of the bunks.

I find it difficult to believe that no one has an opinion on this.

I guess what I'm wondering is if the boat shoud be lower on the trailer and should the bunks be closer to the out side.

Are there not center rollers on this trailer? BTW good idea on having the spare outdrive!

How were the bunks on your old trailer? Both of mine have a long set toward the middle and a second shorter set further outboard at the transom. I would say middle set is 7-8' and outer maybe 4'. But I have seen just the one set and they are usually about how you have them.

The setup looks just fine. You don't want to lower the setup as the chine will get awful close to the frame and fenders. If it were lower and tried to load the boat with the trailer less than level horizontally, the high side chine would likely hit something.

That's a beautiful boat and the fact that you went to a tandem trailer tells me you care about the boat so why not leave the current bunks where they are and simply add a 2nd set outboard of the first set? On my 270, it had 2 sets of bunks on each side and I added a 3rd bunk on each side and plan on adding a 4th bunk on the very outside this year. That's overkill but should I have a bolt or bracket break on me, the extra bunks will be there to take the weight. I believe adding the extra set of bunks (2x6x8 ft) carpeted with all mounting hardware was around $100; cheap investment in my opinion.

I think that might be a good idea, MarkSee. I think I'll leave it the way it is for this season and add the other bunks in the winter. I just seems to sit a little high in the front. I'll include another pic or two and see what you guys think.
