Put 30hrs on boat last season, this spring oil clear much less time on it than on car when oil change needed is there any real reason to change oil if engine low time, oil clear like honey would like to run another season don't want to dump what might be good oil and filters. Thoughts?

You'll get varying opinions on this one.
I put very low hours on my boat each year. I use syn engine oil and drive lube. So I go two years on both. I do pull the drive plug to drain enough to verify its water free.

google combustion byproduct engine oil acid creation..... do your own research

I personally change oil every fall and am ready to go every spring.

I personally do not let any oil sit for extended periods of time thru cold temperatures if the engine has any significant hours (more than a few) on it, as a bit of condensation coupled with the natural byproducts of the combustion process leads to acid build up in the oil. I have pulled bearings that were destroyed by acids in the oil on vehicles that get little use.

my personal opinion is change the oil..... oil is cheap

Agree with this. Who can see the acids and other stuff in oil? 30 hours of use is a good reason to change because any naturally occurring moisture didn't boil off.

End of season is a better time to change the oil and filter.

Couldn’t have put a word better myself. Totally spot on.

Don't tell anybody, but I have gone 2 seasons on an oil change. Similar to what has been described . . . low hours (30 ish) on first season, didn't plan on using the boat much the next season.

From an Amsoil standpoint, they put a mile limit and usually a one year time frame on their oils. Unless you are running a by-pass filter system and doing oil analasys.

As for the oil looking like honey. I'll bet you a box of beer that when you drain the oil in the pan it will be nice and dark. The nice clean oil stays in the dip stick tube which goes to the bottom of your oil pan.
