new PWC advice

I've owned many boats and am soon going to get a PWC.

I'm thinking a lower powered (still plenty powerful) 3 person pwc. The Seadoo
GTI SE (130 hp) seems like a good choice.

How about Kawasaki or Yamaha? Any differences in stability, repair problems, user satisfaction between the three companies.

Seadoo has their Rotax engine. Any problems with these? Can only Seado mechanics work on these?

Thanks for any feedback you have.

Lots of people own the SeaDoos and love them. I don't think 130 HP is by any means low for a PWC.

don't know if ya plan on water sking or not with it. food for thought though. just talked to my mom up in mn. today. they rented one of them seadoo gtis for the day today. had a great time with it i guess. but, my rather hefty cuz couldn't get his sis up on 1 from a deep water start. i had a yamaha fx140 and it'd pull me up on one, deep water start, i'm 165ish. but even that dragged me thru the water a bit prior to gettin me up........i don't know about sea doo relaiablity. but my yamaha did me 239 hours w/o any problems at all before i sold it. though i did do regular maintenance. as far as stabilty goes. the fx hull is that and more. it eats waves for lunch. only draw back is that stability decreases some of the funability of jetskiin. it don't slide, spin or fly very well......just goes where ya point it......

I have 410 hours on mt sea doo 4 stroke just avoid the super charged ones,, as for water skiing I get out of the water on a slolom ski with no isues behind any ski with 85 hp or more as long as the pump is good, if the pump cavitates on any ski it will not work to get you out of the water.

My opinion is stick with Yamaha. I currently have two Yams, 2 KZs, and one SeaDoo. For dependability and ease of working on I'd rank them 1-Yamaha, 3-KZ, and 10 SeaDoo.

For example the Yamaha and KZ has one fuse each. The SeaDoo has 5 fuses and two electric boxes. With the S.D. you need some special equipment for diagnosing. They are spiffy though.

KZ's have a reputation for hard starting usually solved with a primer installation. Good luck. ED
